Online Safety

At High View School, we are committed to helping children understand how to stay safe online and when using any devices, games, or apps that provide internet access. To support this, each class takes part in a dedicated eSafety lesson every term, with content that builds progressively across the school. Key messages are also revisited regularly during Computing lessons to reinforce the importance of keeping safe.

Every year, we take part in the national Safer Internet Day in February. All children take part in a range of activities linked to the annual theme, and we hold a special assembly where pupils from each class share what they have learnt with the whole school.

Supporting Families with Online Safety

At High View School, we understand that keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility between school and home. Technology changes rapidly, and it can be challenging for families to stay informed. That’s why we provide trusted resources to help parents and carers feel confident about guiding their children in the digital world.

CEOP

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) is a police-led service that helps keep children safe online. If you need to report something happening online that makes you or someone you know feel uncomfortable, [click here to make a report].

CEOP also provides a wide range of resources for children and parents on how to stay safe online. [Click here to access their resources].

Common Sense Media

With the rapid development of apps, games, and online services, it can be challenging to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology. While it’s important for children to explore and learn online, we also want to ensure they do so safely.

To support this, we use Common Sense Media, a trusted resource that offers reviews, age guidance, and overviews of apps, games, films, music, and social media platforms. It also provides practical advice for parents and carers on how to keep children safe online. [Click here to visit their website].
