Paul Elliott
Appointment Date: 31/03/2019
Current Term: 31/3/2019 - 30/03/2023
2019-2020
Attendance: 2/4 Full Governors, 3/3 Learning and Standards, 1/1 Special COVID Full GovernorsHello, my name is Paul Elliott and I live in Efford with my wife and 3 girls. I firmly believe that school and education have a vital role to play in shaping and preparing our children for their future lives. I also believe that we, as parents, should have an influence and a say in how the school is run - as well the decisions that are made. We should be able to raise any concerns or comments and have confidence that they will be dealt with appropriately. As a parent governor I aim to strengthen the link between parents and the school, ensuring that parent's voices are heard, and that we are all empowered to seek continuous improvement for the benefit of our children.
I currently work for Plymouth City Council, managing projects that reduce the city's impact on climate change and ensuring residents can afford to keep warm in their homes. As such I spend a lot of my time listening to and identifying the needs of residents, and trying to find solutions to help them - I think this skill transfers very well into the role of parent governor and I'd be really happy to take the time to listen to any of your concerns. I am also experienced in managing budgets and acquiring new funding which I'm sure will prove helpful as a parent governor.
In my spare time I like to keep fit and regularly attend the Park Run with my family. I enjoy listening to music and attempt to play the guitar when I get the chance. I'm usually in the playground at home time so please feel free to stop and say hello and ask any questions you might have.

Appointment Date: 08/07/19
Current Term: 08/07/2019 to 08/07/2023
2019 - 2020: Full Governors 4/4, Resources 4/4, Learning and Standards 3/3 ,Special COVID Full Governors 1/1
Background:
I was born in Chatham, Kent then moved to Eggbuckland, Plymouth when I was 6 years old. I was a shy child growing up, so I was never seen as a leader. You could say I was within the average category throughout my schooling days. My mother tongue is Gujarati and I learnt the English language growing up in Plymouth. I attended Eggbuckland Primary School, followed by Eggbuckland Secondary School, now known as a Community College. I did ok at school but never really knew what I wanted to do as a career once I left school.
My first job came as a Warehouse Assistant, mainly sweeping floors and this progressed until I was promoted to Stock Controller. This was pretty much the start of a long, happy & healthy career in the food manufacturing industry. From then, I was promoted to Purchasing Manager, followed by a couple of moves within the food industry. I am now at the pinnacle of my career and proud to represent The Bay Tree Food Company, as the Director of Operations. Throughout my years of working, I have learnt to be a very patient, methodical, impressionable person. I've had a fantastic family who have supported me along my career. I live in Efford and I am very humble of my professional achievements and I am a grounded individual.
Personal Life:
I have an adorable wife (Suzanne) who puts up with me and I have two very handsome sons (Lakhan & Rohan) who both attend High View School. I am so proud of their learnings and achievements gained from High View School. As a parent, I am guiding and supporting them to chase their dreams so they get a head start in life.
Outside of work, most of my spare time is spent with my children; supporting their hobbies, such as karate, swimming, drama & football. I am also their personal Dad Taxi!
When I do get a chance to unwind, which isn't often enough, I enjoy attending music events with my wife and socialising with family & friends.
Professional Interests:
I have a keen interest in Employee Welfare, H&S and Information Technology. I also love project management and streamlining processes and I'm never afraid to get my hands dirty.

Kim Dorian-Kemp
Appointment Date: 12/04/2011
Current Term: 16/07/2020 - 01/09/2024
2019 - 2020: Full Governors 4/4, Resources 4/4, Learning and Standards 3/3 , Special COVID Full Governors 1/1
I am the Headteacher of High View School and have served on the Governing Body since High View opened in 2009 and before then, in the previous schools in which I have worked. All in all, I have had about 24 years serving as a school governor.
To serve on the Governing Body of High View is an absolute privilege and as a Headteacher, it is a source of both challenge and support. Our members come from all walks of life, representing the local authority, staff, parents and community. Working alongside people with a range of skills is a great support for the school and together we create and share a common vision for our children and community. Working with parents on the Governing Body gives us a parents' perspective on how the school is running and what changes are necessary; they are a powerful voice and together with our parent surveys, we are able to respond swiftly.
In school, our mini governors: the School Council, offer yet another dimension of leadership in the school. These little people also provide support and challenge.
I consider myself to be very lucky to have this support network, so that we can keep this school a great place to be in.

2019 - 2020: Full Governors 4/4, Resources 4/4, Learning and Standards 3/3 , Special COVID Full Governors 1/1
I am the Deputy Headteacher of High View School and it has been great to have been part of the Governing Body here since I joined the school in 2014 and, prior to this, I benefited from being involved with the Governing Body within schools that I have previously worked within. Throughout this period, I have consistently found great satisfaction in such involvement and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, insight and both personal and professional development it has provided me with.
Having the opportunity to work alongside the other School Governors to help promote all aspects of school-life to the highest standards possible is something that continues to motivate and excite me. The support, motivation and challenge towards achieving such outcomes, comes from across the range of School Governors here at High View, and I believe that my 'voice' as a teacher and leader within the school is an important one to positively contribute towards this.
It is a privilege to work in this capacity and help support our pupils, staff and community to achieve great things, in an environment where we all so strongly believe that, 'Good beginnings never end'.

2019 - 2020: Full Governors 3/4, Learning & Standards 2/2, Special COVID Full Governors 1/1
I have lived in Plymouth all of my life, and attended one of the local grammar schools, which inspired my love of education. I moved to Efford a few years ago, and loved the area. I heard many great things about High View School, so when I moved again shortly after my son was born, I decided to stay in the area so in the future, he can benefit from the amazing educational opportunities provided by High View School.
I am a Science Teacher at Sir John Hunt Community Sports College, and I thoroughly enjoy my job and am passionate about education. I also want to give something back to the local community, which is why I decided to join the Board of Governors at High View. I am excited to see how the school manages all their achievements, both academically and pastorally, and get involved in the enrichment opportunities provided to students. I am eager to get involved in the STEM education of the students, and I am hoping that within my role as a Governor, I can inspire the students to be passionate about STEM. They are the future of our City and I take pride in helping to shape their education.

2019 - 2020: Full Governors 3/4 (1 missed due to COVID circumstances), Resources 4/4, Special COVID Full Governors 1/1
I was recruited, via the 'Governor's One Stop Shop', shortly before very early retirement in July 2005. I volunteered as a Governor in order to 'give something back' after being unable to get involved with School Governance due to my Military Service commitments whilst my children were at School.
I bring a deep knowledge of Health and Safety gained during 40+ years as a Royal Naval Engineer Officer and Engineering Consultant for Devonport Royal Dockyard. Alongside a high level of construction knowledge and wealth of experience in personnel and administrative management, this includes dealing with Contractors and sub-contractors.
One of the things I enjoy the most is to see the School full of smiling happy faces and to realise that our pupils and staff are simply the best!
My aim is to ensure that the school premises are the safest that they can be and that the buildings and site are maintained to the highest possible standards.

Appointment Date: 16/10/2020
Current Term: 9/11/2020 - 09/11/2024
2019 - 2020: Full Governors 0/0 Learning and Standards 0/0
Hi, my name is Jane Swain and I live in Efford with my husband and daughter. Before becoming a parent, I spent 8 years in retail, working my way up from weekend sales team member to manager. After giving birth to my daughter, I decided not to return to my managerial role, instead supporting the store as a seasonal team member when needed.
When my daughter first started school, I volunteered at D.E.L.L Children's Centre, helping at their groups for a year. I re-joined the workforce a couple of years ago and worked as an Administrator for a company which provides specialist services to schools. This gave me a unique insight into the challenges faced by schools and has given me a new understanding and appreciation of the hard work and dedication of High View, in providing the best environment for our children.
I am currently volunteering as a Social Media Co-ordinator for two establishments: one a charity and the other, a non-profit organisation. I strongly believe that children are the future, and every child needs to be nurtured and encouraged. As a Parent Governor, I will utilise my varied skill set to benefit High View School for all our children.
