Friday 15 September 2023 Harvest Festival Mufti Day Harvest Festival Mufti Day is on Friday 29th September 2023, where we will be asking for a donation of tins of food. Once again, our harvest charity this year will be the Plymouth Foodbank. (Please note: please do check that any donated tins of food are in date.) Friday 15 September 2023 School Debate Club! We think our Oracy skills at High View are fantastic and we want to show this off by setting-up our first ever debate club ready to enter the Youth Speaks Competition in 2024. Friday 15 September 2023 After School Clubs Clubs commence on Monday 18th September 2023. Children should now have received an acceptance slip confirming the club they have been accepted. If you do not receive an acceptance slip, your child has not been allocated to that club.

Friday 28 April 2023 Parent and Teacher Meeting For the attention of Year 1 to Year 6 parent/carerss only. We sent the link out on Thursday evening asking for you to select a preferred time slot for your child’s Parent/Teacher Meeting. Once you have selected a preferred time, we will then allocate a specific time slot for you and then confirm this with you. The meetings are being held face to face in school, in the SSA hall on Tuesday 23rd May 2023.

Friday 28 April 2023 Travelling Museum The Travelling Museum project has been collecting stories and finding hidden histories from the communities of Efford, Whitleigh and St Judes. Children from our school and parents and children from the Crazy Glue art group have been busy exploring these stories and creating objects to represent them. You are invited to join in as the museum comes into town (on the back of a cargo bike!) The museum will be outside “The Box” on Saturday 20 th May and Sunday 21 st May between 11.00am and 2.00pm. Expect an alternative museum experience. There will be music, dance, things to hold and hear and plenty to celebrate! The event is FREE and open to all!

Friday 28 April 2023 Kings Coronation Celebrations Children will have the opportunity to join in with the celebrations around the Coronation of King Charles III on Friday 5th May 2023. Children can come to school wearing red, white or blue or something regal. They will also have the opportunity to sit down to a special CaterEd coronation school lunch and coronation activities will continue throughout the day.

Friday 28 April 2023 Balance and Bikeability During the week commencing Monday 5th June, our FS2 children have the chance to complete the PSSP's Balanceability programme, while Year 4 and 5 will be taking part in Bikeability. Emails have been sent out to parents/carers of these year groups with a Google consent form, which needs to be completed by Friday 19th May at the latest. Early completion would be very much appreciated so that the logistics of these programmes can be organised. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this.

Friday 28 April 2023 PTA Coronation Disco Our PTA are organising a “Coronation Disco” to celebrate the coronation of the King on Thursday 4th May. Tickets will be on sale for £1.50 at reception from Tuesday 2nd May 2023 - cash payments only please in aid of High View School’s PTA. If you purchase a ticket for your child to attend the FS2 and Year 1/2 disco on Thursday 4th May at 3:15pm, please could your child bring their disco clothes with them to school in a named bag and we will help them to get changed before the disco. After the discos, please collect your child from their normal class collection points at 4:15pm. YEARS 3, 4, 5 & 6: If you have purchased a ticket for your child to attend the Key Stage 2 disco on Thursday 4th May at 4:30pm, your child needs to be collected or will walk home at the end of the school day (3:15pm) as normal. They will then need to return to school for their disco at 4:30pm and enter the main entrance via reception. You must collect your child at 5:30pm from their n

Friday 28 April 2023 Sports Day Our annual Sports Day will be taking place on Wednesday 17th May, where every child in the school will this year have the opportunity to represent their house in a variety of sporting activities. All of KS2 will be competing in the morning from 9.30am, with FS2 and KS1 following in the afternoon at 1.30pm. Parents and carers are welcome as always to support and cheer on the children.

Friday 24 March 2023 High View School Exhibition On Tuesday 28th March, High View School Exhibition will take place in the SSA. This is a way for us to celebrate and share the amazing projects that have been completed by children and families across the school this term. This time, we are very excited to be able to share the event with parents and carers too! Doors will open after school on Tuesday. Entry to the exhibition will be via the main reception and everyone is invited to come and view the incredible exhibits on display.

Friday 24 March 2023 Fit and Fed Programme 2023 Plymouth City Council has received funding from the Department for Education to coordinate a city-wide holiday activity and food programme during the 2023 Easter, summer and Christmas holidays to primarily support families with children who receive benefit related free school meals. Due to this funding, Plymouth Argyle will be at High View School from Monday 3rd April until Thursday 6th April 2023. Friday 24 March 2023 Household Support Grant Food Vouchers This scheme is for free school meal children and the children from families identified as hardship families that would benefit from the support during the Easter holidays. Each eVoucher will be £26 for the two week holiday. This means you will get one £26 voucher per child eligible for the scheme. If eligible, you will receive an email from Monday 27th March 2023 regarding “The Household Support Grant”. This grant supports eligible families throughout the holidays by providing food vouchers for them, so please do look out for this email if you are eligible.

Friday 24 March 2023 Horizon and LAT Merger As detailed in the email sent out to all parents and carers this week, we are delighted to be able to inform you that the proposed merger between the Horizon MAT and the Learning Academies Trust MAT can now officially go ahead. It has taken us a while to get to this stage, but this is really fantastic news for our children and the communities we serve. We would like to invite you to a ‘Stakeholder Engagement meeting’ at 6.00pm at Elburton Primary School, on the evening of Wednesday 19th April. Friday 24 March 2023 Year 1/2 Paignton Zoo Trip On Wednesday, the Year 1/2 children had a fantastic day out at Paignton Zoo. We were so lucky with the weather and were fortunate to see many of the animals who were out enjoying a break from the recent rain! The children used their maps to navigate their way around the zoo and thought carefully about the different animal groups that we saw on the way. They were particularly excited to see the lions who had recently arrived from Newquay Zoo! The children represented the school really well with great behaviour and manners, well done!

Friday 17 March 2023 CAP Prevention CHILD ASSAULT PREVENTION: As you are aware, throughout the week, children across the school have started to engage with workshops to support them with how to stay safe, strong and free. Please find the time to follow up any conversations that your children may wish to have on this important topic. Furthermore, in line with our school values, we have continued to support the children with being both confident and kind to one another at all times, with the particular focus on how we play and interact safely with one another. For example, we have reiterated the key messages around “kind hands” and “kind feet”, so that any games that we play are positive and fun and do not result in unnecessary harm being caused.

Friday 17 March 2023 Saving Energy Our Eco Warriors discussed in our assembly how we can save more energy by recycling alongside turning off lights, closing windows and making sure taps are turned off. Each month our warriors will take gas and electricity readings and share them with the school. Our aim being to reduce our energy use and thus, reduce our energy bills
