Cardboard Boat Racing Fun!

Last Friday, thirty of our Year 5 children had the opportunity to visit Plymouth City College’s “Maths Centre of Excellence” to work together on an exciting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) project. We have entered this year’s IMECHE Cardboard Boat Race, and we spent the day preparing ourselves for this by investigating model boats before starting to build the full-size hull for the cardboard boat, which a team of four children will actually race in. We now just need to spend some time back in school making it fully waterproof and look amazing in preparation for the race day, which took place on the Barbican on the 14^th of September 2019. 

An amazing morning of fun was had by the High View team at the IMechE Cardboard Boat Race today. We completed over half of the extended course before becoming waterlogged and we came away with the “Best Fancy Dress” trophy. What a fabulous event and a fabulous team...super proud!
