On Thursday 24th May, our military children and young carers thoroughly enjoyed their visit to pizza express at the Barbican Leisure Centre with Mrs Ingram and Mrs Dorian-Kemp. The children learnt about healthy food choices, how the margarita pizza got its name and then made their own margherita pizza! Our children ranged from FS2 all the way up to Year 5 and were super ambassadors for our school.
The story tells us that Raffaele Esposito, the best pizza maker (pizzaiolo in italian language) of XIX century, had prepared in honor of Queen Margherita, a tomato and mozzarella pizza. this pizza has tomato (red), mozzarella (white) and basil (green) to represent the colours of Italy as on the Italian flag! Since then for all it is called: Margherita Pizza.
