A group of 7 KS2 children represented our school at the Remembrance Service at Efford Cemetery on Wednesday 8th November 2017. Ruby A. performed her amazing poem and the veterans were touched. You all made us proud. Also a big thank you to JJ S, Tom B, Mia H and Grace C for selling poppies and items in the playground this week.
WWII Has Affected Millions
Ablaze, buildings scarred with agony,
Crumbling like a once glorious hummingbird knocked to the ground.
While the fires are growing rapidly,
And bombs let off a deathly sound.
When morning comes, the harbour is gone,
As is the neighbourhood school.
The tragic work of yet another bomb,
One word, describing war:
Meanwhile, in the trenches of fighting,
Home of tanks and guns,
And where rocks are bedding and lighting,
For his life, the soldier runs.
Now over, in green country,
The child, she sits in a field.
How long will this last?
She thinks, and my poor parents!
They’ve no protective shield.
Yet another malevolent event,
As rations starve the innocent civilians,
Leaving nothing in their stomachs but a dent.
Word War II has affected millions!
