Whether your child is starting school or going back to school after being diagnosed with diabetes, it’s important that their school provides the help and support they need to manage their condition. At High View, we know just how worrying this can be for parents and want to reassure you, we are there to support both you and your child.
As a school who is able to manage your child’s diabeties, we confirm we have the following in place:
Our school policy confirms the provisions we have in place to keep children with medical conditions such as Type 1 diabetes safe and fully included in all our school activities.
Individual healthcare plan
Every child with a long term medical condition has an individual healthcare plan which ensures their day to day needs are managed well.
We will work together will you, ensuring you feel happy and have regular and constructive communication.
Training and support
There will be at least two members of staff fully trained to support your child along with confirmation that all our staff receive general awareness training too. Training is normally carried out by your child’s diabetic nurse.
If your child has or is suspected of having diabetes, please speak to their class teacher.
